Meet Rufus!  This handsome 4-year-old basset has some truly impressive ears—and an irresistible charm to match. Rufus is a gentle, sweet-natured boy who adores kids and does great with cats. While he hasn’t had much experience with other dogs, he’s gotten along well with the few he’s met.

His previous family loved him deeply but, due to financial challenges, made the very difficult decision to surrender him to SBR to ensure he could continue to receive the care he deserves. Rufus is now settling into his foster home and will soon be visiting the vet for a full wellness exam as he begins his journey toward finding his forever family.

Meet Bowie. This sweet 7-year-old boy is a recently retired breeder dog who's finally getting his chance at the good life. Surrendered to SBR, Bowie is just beginning his journey toward becoming a cherished family member.

Like many dogs coming from a breeding background, he’s a bit shy and unsure of life outside a kennel. But with a little patience and a lot of love, we know he'll come out of his shell and become the devoted companion he was always meant to be.

Bowie is heading to the vet soon for his first wellness check, and he’ll be scheduled for his neuter shortly after. Once he’s medically cleared, he’ll be ready to find the perfect forever home where he can enjoy all the love, comfort, and belly rubs he’s missed out on. Meet Daisy!  This sweet 1.5-year-old basset was lovingly surrendered by her family due to changes in their lives that made it difficult to give her the time and care she deserves. While it was a hard decision for them, they knew she needed more—and we’re so glad she’s now part of the SBR family

Daisy is affectionate and gentle, with a calm, even temperament. She’s settling into her foster home and getting used to a new routine. She’s great with kids, cats, and other dogs, though she hasn’t had much experience with canine companions. She walks well on a leash but would thrive with a fenced yard where she can play safely.Description goes here

This playful girl is still learning the ropes when it comes to potty training and would do best in a home that can offer her consistency and structure. She’ll be heading to the vet soon for a full wellness check and will be scheduled for her spay.

Piper is a 4.5-year-old sweetheart who’s adjusting to some big changes in her life. After her beloved dad passed away a few months ago, a kind friend stepped in to care for her, but unfortunately, the family wasn’t able to keep her long-term. That’s where SBR has helped.

Now settling into her foster home, Piper is slowly learning to trust her new surroundings. She’s great with other dogs and does well with kids too. In the coming weeks, she’ll be visiting the vet for a full wellness check to make sure she’s in tip-top shape.

We’re already smitten, she is a beautiful, well-rounded girl.

Meet Marla! This adorable 7-year-old gal recently came to SBR after her family made the tough decision to surrender her. With little ones in the home, they felt Marla would be happier in a quieter environment—and we’re already seeing her shine!

She’s a bit on the fluffy side at 65lbs. but her awesome foster mom has started her on a healthy new diet to help her feel her best. Marla is settling in beautifully and has taken a real liking to her 2 foster brothers and her foster fur sister too. Her foster family says she’s an absolute sweetheart.

She’ll be heading to the vet soon for a full wellness check, but in the meantime, she’s enjoying the calm, comfy life she deserves.

Meet Winston — or as his friends call him, Bubba!

This big, hunky gentleman is 10 years old and full of sweetness and charm. Winston recently joined the Suncoast Basset Rescue family after life at home became a bit too hectic. With his dad facing health issues and two small kids in the mix, Winston was getting less of the love and attention he truly deserves.

Now settling into his foster home, Winston is already showing us just how gentle and easygoing he is. He gets along beautifully with other dogs and cats — a true social butterfly in a basset body! Winston will be heading to the vet soon for a full check-up, updated vaccines, and possibly a neuter if he gets the green light. He hasn’t had a physical in a while, so we’ll make sure he gets the care he needs to start this new chapter feeling his best.

Meet Petey! Petey is a sweet 2-year-old basset hound who was recently rescued from a hoarding situation and brought to the humane society. Shelter life was overwhelming for him—he was frightened and had very little experience with human socialization or being out and about in the world.

Thankfully, Petey is now settling into his foster home, where he has many basset buddies to help him feel at ease. He is already showing signs of comfort and trust, especially with Grandma, who quickly became his safe space. He is already proving that with love, patience, and the right company he is ready to blossom.

Since arriving in her foster home, Daisy has been opening up more each day. With gentle care and patience from her foster mom, she’s starting to show her true personality and it's clear she has a loving heart just waiting to blossom

Daisy is already spayed but hasn’t been to the vet in a couple of years, so she’ll be heading in soon for a full wellness check and updated vaccines. We’re excited to learn more about her health and help her get ready for her forever home.

Meet Hank, a handsome 7-year-old male Basset Hound with a big heart. Hank has had a bit of a rocky start, having lived in several homes over the years. After his previous owner passed away, he was taken in by family, but they’re now downsizing and can no longer keep him. That’s where SBR comes in!

Hank is friendly with both dogs and cats and enjoys going for walks. Though he might be a bit independent at first, once he settles in, he’s all about spending time with his humans, snuggling up, and enjoying some love. He’s going to be heading to the vet soon so that he can get updated on all his vaccines and get scheduled to be neutered.

Meet Otis, an 8-year-old senior basset that was surrendered to Suncoast Basset Rescue because his owners are dealing with an illness and are no longer home as much. They thought it was in Otis’s best interest to find a better situation for him. Otis is the perfect gentleman. He is good with other dogs and has a very sweet personality.

His foster dad, however, has found that Otis is capable of counter surfing and his longer legs make it a bit easier for him too. He is just settling in and we hope that Otis will find a forever home where he can get the love and attention he deserves.

Meet Rusty! This adorable 10-month-old pup recently joined Suncoast Basset Rescue after being surrendered by a family who just didn’t have the time he deserved. With 12-hour workdays, poor Rusty spent most of his time crated instead of doing what puppies do best—playing, exploring, and just being a dog.

Now in his foster home, Rusty is thriving! He gets along great with the other dogs and figured out the doggy door in under 10 minutes. He’s had zero accidents in the house—smart and well-mannered! While he can be a little needy right now, it’s clear he just wants the love and attention he’s been missing. As he settles in, we know he’ll grow more confident and secure.

Rusty will soon be ready to leave his crate days behind and find a forever home filled with love, patience, and plenty of playtime! He still needs to get a check up at the vet and scheduled to be neutered first
