His former family made the difficult decision to surrender him due to his resource guarding behaviors and the presence of small children in the home. Bernie is a sweet, affectionate boy who’s just a little confused about all the recent changes in his world. He gets along well with other dogs and enjoys having a safe yard to explore, so a fenced-in yard will be important for him.

Once Bernie has had some time to settle into his foster home, he’ll be heading to the vet for a full wellness exam to make sure he’s in tip-top shape.

Bernie’s ideal forever home will be with someone who understands resource guarding and can provide him with structure, patience, and reassurance as he adjusts. With consistency and compassion, Bernie will thrive and show just how loving and loyal he can be.

Hey there, I’m Mr. Moo — and if I do say so myself, I’m quite the handsome guy! I’m a one-year-old basset hound with big ears, a big heart, and a whole lot of personality.

My dad and I recently moved to Florida, but his job keeps him traveling a lot. That meant I was spending way too much time home alone, so I decided to take up singing to pass the time. Unfortunately, my neighbors — and especially the landlord — didn’t quite appreciate my musical talents the way I hoped they would! Now I’m living with my awesome foster mom and her two fun kids, Oliver and Annie. I think we’re going to be great friends — there’s plenty of playtime, attention, and cuddles around here!

I’m a super sweet guy with lot’s of puppy energy, who loves people, fun, and a little bit of adventure. What I’m really hoping for is a forever home with some friends to keep me company and maybe even an audience who enjoys my tunes.

Meet Chloe! This gorgeous 2-year-old basset girl is as loving as she is playful. Chloe adores her people and thinks your lap is the perfect place to be! She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and is always ready for playtime. We’re not yet sure how she feels about cats.

Chloe’s been a bit behind on her veterinary care, but she’ll be heading to the vet soon for a full wellness exam to get her back on track.

Meet Otis, an 8-year-old senior basset that was surrendered to Suncoast Basset Rescue because his owners are dealing with an illness and are no longer home as much. They thought it was in Otis’s best interest to find a better situation for him. Otis is the perfect gentleman. He is good with other dogs and has a very sweet personality.

His foster dad, however, has found that Otis is capable of counter surfing and his longer legs make it a bit easier for him too. He is just settling in and we hope that Otis will find a forever home where he can get the love and attention he deserves.

Meet Bowie. This sweet 7-year-old boy is a recently retired breeder dog who's finally getting his chance at the good life. Surrendered to SBR, Bowie is just beginning his journey toward becoming a cherished family member.

Like many dogs coming from a breeding background, he’s a bit shy and unsure of life outside a kennel. But with a little patience and a lot of love, we know he'll come out of his shell and become the devoted companion he was always meant to be.

Bowie is heading to the vet soon for his first wellness check, and he’ll be scheduled for his neuter shortly after. Once he’s medically cleared, he’ll be ready to find the perfect forever home where he can enjoy all the love, comfort, and belly rubs he’s missed out on.
