Meet Jolene! Jolene is a 4-year-old basset beauty with a big heart—literally! She even has a perfect heart-shaped mark on her side to prove it.

This sweet girl came to us from a small rescue after her previous family wasn’t able to give her the care she needed. Jolene is currently heartworm positive, but thanks to SBR she’s getting the treatment and second chance she deserves.

She’s gentle, easygoing, and gets along wonderfully with kids and other dogs. She does love to be with her people and is a bit of a Velcro dog. Jolene is the kind of companion who will happily fit right into a loving family.

Meet Ruby!
This beautiful 3-year-old basset has already experienced quite a journey in her young life. After being shuffled between several homes, Ruby finally thought she’d found her forever family—but due to unforeseen medical issues, they had to make the heartbreaking decision to surrender her.

Ruby is as sweet and gentle as they come. She can be a little shy at first and is sometimes startled by loud noises, but once she feels safe, her affectionate personality shines through. She gets along wonderfully with both dogs and cats.

Ruby loves going for walks and exploring the backyard, taking in all the wonderful scents that only a basset nose can find! Like many young bassets, she’s said to have a curious streak and a tendency to chew on things left out—but so far, she’s been an absolute angel.

Meet Bella! This sweet 4-year-old girl is a recent arrival to SBR, and we’re so glad she’s here. Bella had a litter of puppies about six months ago, and she came to us just in time—she’s currently in heat! Her previous family noticed some “assertive” behavior after her pregnancy and made the decision to surrender her. Like many of our rescues, Bella hasn’t had much medical care in the past, but that’s all about to change. She’s settling in beautifully with her foster family and will be visiting the vet soon for a full wellness exam and to schedule her spay.

Bella is sweet, sweet, sweet. She is ready for a fresh start and a life full of love. She’s a gentle soul who is timid in new situations.  She would do best in a home with a fenced in yard and a family who will give her the care, love, and stability she deserves.          

Meet Lucifer! Don’t let his devilish name fool you—this sweet boy is pure angel! Lucifer is a stunning 1-year-old who adores people, kids, other dogs, and even cats. He recently joined the SBR family and is settling into his foster home after being surrendered when his family had to move.

Because he’s young, energetic, and full of love, we think Lucifer would thrive in a home with another playful pup and a fenced yard where he can run and have fun. He’s not yet medically cleared for adoption, but we’ll share updates as soon as he is. Stay tuned—this handsome guy has a bright future ahead!

Meet Holly, a sweet 4-year-old basset hound whose life just took a big change. Her dad was heartbroken to let her go, but he knew surrendering her was the best decision to give her the care and attention she deserves. Holly hasn’t had much medical care in the past, so she’ll be heading straight to the vet to get all checked out and up to date.

Through it all, Holly’s gentle personality shines. She’s an absolute sweetheart who gets along wonderfully with other dogs and even cats. We know this lovable girl has a bright future ahead, and we’re so glad to be part of her journey to a happy, healthy forever home.

Meet Maggie! Maggie is a sweet 4-year-old basset hound whose world recently changed in a big way. All of these changes in such a short time brought on a wave of anxiety for Maggie, especially when left alone. Her loving mom made the heartbreaking decision to surrender her to SBR, knowing Maggie needed more time and attention than she could provide.

In her foster home, Maggie is beginning to relax and show her gentle, affectionate nature. She’s a true Velcro dog who loves nothing more than being by her person’s side. She would thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time and where she has another dog to keep her company. Having a canine friend is a must for her happiness.

Maggie enjoys lounging in a fenced yard, soaking up the sun, and hopping on the golf cart for rides to visit the neighbors. With the right home, Maggie will blossom into the devoted, loving companion she’s meant to be.

Meet Daisy!  This sweet 1.5-year-old basset was lovingly surrendered by her family due to changes in their lives that made it difficult to give her the time and care she deserves. While it was a hard decision for them, they knew she needed more—and we’re so glad she’s now part of the SBR family

Daisy is affectionate and gentle, with a calm, even temperament. She’s settling into her foster home and getting used to a new routine. She’s great with kids, cats, and other dogs, though she hasn’t had much experience with canine companions. She walks well on a leash but would thrive with a fenced yard where she can play safely.Description goes here

This playful girl is still learning the ropes when it comes to potty training and would do best in a home that can offer her consistency and structure. She’ll be heading to the vet soon for a full wellness check and will be scheduled for her spay.

Meet Marla! This adorable 7-year-old gal recently came to SBR after her family made the tough decision to surrender her. With little ones in the home, they felt Marla would be happier in a quieter environment—and we’re already seeing her shine!

She’s a bit on the fluffy side at 65lbs. but her awesome foster mom has started her on a healthy new diet to help her feel her best. Marla is settling in beautifully and has taken a real liking to her 2 foster brothers and her foster fur sister too. Her foster family says she’s an absolute sweetheart.

She’ll be heading to the vet soon for a full wellness check, but in the meantime, she’s enjoying the calm, comfy life she deserves.

Meet Petey! Petey is a sweet 2-year-old basset hound who was recently rescued from a hoarding situation and brought to the humane society. Shelter life was overwhelming for him—he was frightened and had very little experience with human socialization or being out and about in the world.

Thankfully, Petey is now settling into his foster home, where he has many basset buddies to help him feel at ease. He is already showing signs of comfort and trust, especially with Grandma, who quickly became his safe space. He is already proving that with love, patience, and the right company he is ready to blossom.

Meet Otis, an 8-year-old senior basset that was surrendered to Suncoast Basset Rescue because his owners are dealing with an illness and are no longer home as much. They thought it was in Otis’s best interest to find a better situation for him. Otis is the perfect gentleman. He is good with other dogs and has a very sweet personality.

His foster dad, however, has found that Otis is capable of counter surfing and his longer legs make it a bit easier for him too. He is just settling in and we hope that Otis will find a forever home where he can get the love and attention he deserves.
