Announcing The Artful Hound !
What is it? An exciting fun new fundraiser for Suncoast Basset Rescue!
How does it work? Supporters of SBR purchase a plain wood basset template to decorate according to their artistic inspiration, talents, and interests. Template is 16" long x 11.22" high - laser-cut, unfinished, cabinet grade baltic birch - 1/4" thickness. Sign up yourself or encourage your artistic friends to participate – it’s all for a great cause!
You can also craft your own basset if you prefer – weld a steel or aluminum basset, crochet a basset, make a papier mache basset. We just ask that the finished product roughly is 16” long by 12” high.
You’ll have all of August and September to create your basset masterpiece. You can design your basset to hang on the wall, rest in a stand, or stand on its own. Keep it two-dimensional or add on items for a more sculptural look. We can help with display logistics once you’ve worked your magic!
Then What? The finished artwork will be auctioned off in an on-line auction beginning in October, culminating with an in-person “Brunch with the Bassets” in early November at a location TBD in the Tampa area. Details about how to get your basset to the event site will come later.

I’m Just Not an Artist… We aren’t looking for the next Van Gogh – your love of bassets and passion for your chosen theme will shine through in a wonderful, finished product! Remember, you can always enlist your talented friends and neighbors to join in the fun – this could make a great group project.

foster home. We have a need, RIGHT NOW, for more foster homes. Fostering a basset hound will be one of the most rewarding experiences you can have. A foster takes in a stray, unwanted, or neglected basset, provides it a safe and loving home and gives the hound the time needed to be ready for adoption.
FOREVER FOSTER GUARDIAN
By providing a forever foster home, SBR also comes to aid of bassets diagnosed with a serious illness or a behavioral issue like severe anxiety. Our forever foster bassets will remain with SBR to live out their final days with medical care, comfort and love from their foster family.
