Fostering a basset hound is one of the most rewarding things you can do.
As a foster parent, you give a basset hound a safe place to heal, feel secure, and get ready for their permanent home. You’ll observe their personality, help them build confidence, and make a real difference in their life — one snuggle at a time.

What Fostering Looks Like
The purpose of a foster home is to provide a safe, loving environment while we evaluate each dog’s behavior around other pets, children, and in different settings. You’ll get to know your foster’s personality, temperament, and quirks — and that information is invaluable in finding them the perfect forever home.
Many of the dogs in our care need a little extra help — house training, managing separation anxiety, overcoming shyness, or learning basic house manners. Fosters aren’t expected to handle serious behavioral issues; we have professional trainers available for the more challenging situations. All information gathered during the foster period is shared with our adoption coordinators, who work closely with you to find the right adoptive family match.
What We Provide
SBR covers the cost of all veterinary care as directed by our medical coordinator, prescription food if needed, and monthly heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Fosters provide food, water, a safe environment, and plenty of love.
Please note: This is not a foster-to-adopt program.
