Snickers is one of the longest-ever forever fosters at SBR, having been with the rescue for 11 years. He came as part of a bonded pair with a female named Kelly. When he first arrived, Snickers was extremely fearful of strangers, and even simple eye contact could make him anxious. His foster family quickly learned to be sensitive to his fears and work around his quirks to help him feel safe and secure. He also takes anti-anxiety medication to help manage his stress.
Over time, Snickers has grown so much and no longer needs to be watched for trying to run away out of fear. He is so trusting now and knows he is in a home where no harm will ever come to him. These days, he enjoys the royal treatment of love and attention from his foster family, especially from his foster dad, and will even jump up on the bed to lie beside him. He also loves his daily walks with his foster pack.
Although Snickers adores his foster pack, he and Kelly found great comfort in one another for many years. They were closely bonded and they would even eat together from the same food bowl. Snickers remains one of SBR’s forever fosters and, so far, is doing well since Kelly crossed the bridge. Thankfully, his foster parents always have a house full of bassets so Snickers can be safe with the pack.
