Purty

Purty is a beautiful 12-year-old bassador with a gentle spirit and a lot of love to give. For the first nine years of her life, Purty lived a quiet, happy life as the only dog in her home, enjoying a yard to play in and the companionship of her devoted mom. When her mom could no longer care for her, Purty’s familiar world was suddenly turned upside down. Thankfully, she found her way to Suncoast Basset Rescue and has landed safely with a loving foster family where she is now thriving—even though the transition has been a big one for her.

Purty is a very smart girl who has adapted impressively to a completely new lifestyle. She learns quickly by watching those around her and has figured out the routines of her new home in no time. She’s also quite expressive, using an adorable little grumble to let her foster family know when she would like to go outside. Purty loves to play ball, enjoys catching and carrying around her toys, and has picked up basic instructions with ease.

Having spent most of her life as the queen of her own castle, Purty never had much opportunity to learn the give-and-take of living with other dogs—or men, for that matter. With patience and understanding, she has been making wonderful progress. She has bonded with her foster sibling, Elvis, and even became upset when they were separated for a day while Elvis was at the vet. It’s clear that Purty has a loving heart and is learning that sharing her life with others can be a good thing.

Because Purty finds major life changes particularly stressful and has settled in so beautifully with her foster family, we have decided it is in her best interest to become part of SBR’s Forever Foster program. This allows her to remain in the home where she feels safe, comfortable, and loved while Suncoast Basset Rescue continues to support her care for the rest of her life. Purty may have experienced some big changes along the way, but now she gets to enjoy the stability, patience, and affection she deserves.
