Macy

Macy is a beautiful 4-year-old basset hound who has captured the hearts of everyone at Suncoast Basset Rescue. Formerly known as Daisy, Macy came to SBR after spending the early part of her life as a breeder dog, where her world was very small and she missed out on the love, attention, and socialization that every dog deserves.

Despite her difficult start, Macy has always shown a gentle and incredibly sweet spirit. She can be shy and anxious in new situations, but with time, patience, and the kindness of her foster family and SBR volunteers, she has slowly begun to learn what it means to feel safe and cared for.

Since arriving at SBR, Macy has received extensive medical care, including treatment for ear infections and skin issues, surgery for cherry eye, and being spayed. Unfortunately, her cherry eye returned after surgery and now persists in a way that affects her vision. Combined with her ongoing anxiety and limited early socialization, we believe the kindest and most compassionate choice is for Macy to remain a Forever Foster.

Today, Macy spends her days enjoying the quiet comforts of home and the companionship of Daisy, an SBR alumni, who helps show her that the world can be a safe and happy place. While her life may look a little different than we first hoped, it is now filled with the security, compassion, and love she always deserved.
