Meet Lucy! Lucy is a 9-year-old tri-color basset hound who recently found herself in need of a new beginning after her owner passed away. She was his constant companion, and while his family stepped in as best they could, they ultimately reached out to Suncoast Basset Rescue to help Lucy find the loving home she deserves.
Lucy is used to living with other dogs and cats and previously had a fenced yard, which will be a must for her future home. Lucy has never learned how to walk on a leash and tends to plant herself when one is put on, so while leash training may come with time and patience, a secure yard is essential.
Lucy is crate trained and finds comfort and security in her crate. She’s a fairly low-energy, mellow girl who enjoys a calm environment. She would do well in a quiet, understanding home that will give her time to decompress, heal, and finally experience the stability she’s been missing.
