Lucy

Lucy is a gentle senior basset hound estimated to be around 14 years old. Lucy has had a difficult journey. She was found as a stray at about 3–4 years old in very poor condition and likely had experienced abuse before being rescued. Thankfully, she was welcomed into a loving home where she spent more than nine years as a cherished member of the family. When the family welcomed a toddler, they realized that Lucy—who can be sensitive about being touched in certain areas—might not feel comfortable in a busy household with a young child. Wanting what was best for her, they made the difficult decision to surrender Lucy to Suncoast Basset Rescue so she could find a situation better suited to her needs. Lucy is a timid and somewhat anxious girl, especially when faced with new environments or changes to her routine. She has also been diagnosed with glaucoma in one eye. While surgery has not been necessary so far, her condition will continue to be carefully monitored. Because of Lucy’s age and her sensitive, gentle nature, she will remain in the loving care of her foster home as one of Suncoast Basset Rescue’s forever fosters. There, she can enjoy the quiet, stability, and comfort she deserves while receiving the ongoing care and support she needs for the rest of her days.
