Jake

Meet Jake! Jake is a 3-year-old basset hound who has truly been given a second chance. Jake’s journey began at a veterinary clinic when his former owners requested euthanasia — a request the veterinarian compassionately refused. Instead, this dedicated vet stepped in to help Jake start over, providing him with needed medical care including neutering and vaccinations, and ensuring he was placed into a foster home. Jake has shown some resource guarding behaviors and has had incidents involving children, so we are seeking a home without children where he can feel safe and supported.

He will need a patient, experienced home that understands how to continue working with him and setting him up for success. Ideally, Jake would do best with an experienced basset hound adopter who understands the quirky, stubborn, and lovable traits the breed is known for. Jake is smart, confident, and always up for an adventure. The good news is that Jake gets along well with other dogs and has done well around cats, too.

He would thrive in a home with a securely fenced backyard where he can safely run, explore, and burn off some of his energy. If you think you can meet the needs of this handsome boy and provide him with the loving, stable home he deserves, we would love to hear from you.
