Henry

Henry struggles with severe separation anxiety, as well as thunderstorm anxiety. In his original home, his family tried to contain him in a homemade crate when they left, not realizing that his destructive behavior was rooted in anxiety rather than disobedience. Wanting what was best for him, they made the difficult decision to relinquish him to the care of SBR.

Today, Henry is thriving in a home with seven basset foster siblings, where there is always someone around to keep him company. His foster dad has done an incredible job helping Henry build confidence and learn that he is safe—even when “his people” step away. He also worked with a certified trainer on separation anxiety, and his foster dad continues that work with him every day.

Henry has been through quite a bit physically as well. He underwent surgery to remove several large cysts, one of which had ruptured prior to surgery. Thankfully, all were benign, and he has made a great recovery.

He’s a somewhat shy boy, but incredibly sweet, and he gives the very best kisses.

Because of Henry’s ongoing separation anxiety, we feel it’s in his best interest to remain a forever foster—living out his golden years surrounded by the love and stability of his foster family, with continued support from Suncoast Basset Rescue.
