Girlfriend
"Girlfriend" is doing great. Her skin is better but far from perfect. It is not dry anymore BUT she still scratches, we have tried many things. Other than the itching she is the happiest basset, lots of attention and toys, she loves to play with her toys(and us). She put on a little weight(I really think she does not want us to feel bad) 87 pounds, yes she is a big girl. She plays a lot, I think that helps keep her weight down. I'll put some photos in this file. She has been a great friend to me, I just wish she would not worry about me so much. The last time I went in the hospital she new before me. She was very sad and kept sniffing my left leg, sure nuff I spent a week at Doctors Hospital while they took care of the wounds (lympthedema). She was very happy when I came home. The whole family tries to cheer her up while I am gone. Best dog I have ever had. Thank you all

Buford
This is just an update on Buford. He's a very happy healthy well loved hound. His owner John couldn't be more happy. He's the love of his life. Buford is very sweet and is very protective of his family. He comes when he is called. He gives slobbery kisses all over your face. He loves toys! Especially a squeaky koala that he throws in the air and plays fetch with. Buford loves scooby snacks and will sit down for one. He loves to lie in the corner of the water bed and lay there all day long. He snuggles up to you at night. The noises of frogs at night makes him nervous. He loves to play and compete for attention with his sister chiuhauhau named Isabella. He is loved by all in his forever home. We couldn't ask for more. Thanks again suncoast basset rescue for this wonderful pup.

Daisy and Dook
We brought our first
B asset, Dook, into our lives when he was just two months old.
B eing proud new parents, we drove all the way from New Orleans to upstate
Kansas to bring him home, since we didn’t want him to have to fly down by himself! Once we had Dook, we began to become involved in the New Orleans
B asset Rescue organization (
B ayou
B assets). We realized the terrible situation in which too many beautiful bassets never get a proper home. We promised ourselves once we bought a house, we would rescue a basset and bring a “
B est
B uddy” home for Dook: enter Daisy! Once we moved from New Orleans to
Florida and closed on a house, we instantly began our research and decided that the Suncoast
B asset rescue was the best way to find our new little girl. After a few heartaches (some of our bassets were already adopted before we had a chance to meet them), we decided to put it in fate’s hands. Suncoast
B asset rescue did a great job in finding the perfect dog for us, and it came in Daisy (previously named Emily). She was malnourished and had a respiration problem, but was otherwise in good shape when picked up in a rescue shelter in
Seminole
County . The rescue organization immediately called us and said that Daisy was the hound for us! We arranged a meet and greet with her wonderful foster family, and it was “Slobber at First Sight” when Dook and Daisy finally met.It makes our heart happy to know that we’ve given a second chance at a good home to a hound that needed it, and it equally makes us happy to know that Dook is no longer an “only child” and has a buddy to spend the rest of his days with.
Thanks Suncoast

Rocky
We adopted Rocky (pictured on the right) at the 2006 Waddle. He and our other basset, Beauregard hit it off right away and are best basset buddies. He LOVES belly rubs, insists on kisses, and runs the Basset 500 each day with Beau through the house, not to mention their daily walks greeting the neighborhood. We are so blessed to have found Rocky and Suncoast Basset Rescue. Thanks to all of the Suncoast volunteers especially Kitty Bacon and Shannon & Greg Williams. You all do an outstanding job!!! We all had a blast at the Waddle-- hope to be back next year!

Sadi
My husband and I thought that is was time to add another basset to our family. Because we had rescued our first hound from a shelter, we decided to rescue another. We got in contact with Suncoast and were paired with Sadie (Sadi), who was a rescued from Osceola County. We were not sure how the hounds would get along in our home, but Moli welcomed Sadi (left) and even shared her chair. The two fell asleep within 5 minutes of arriving at our house and this picture shows how they spend a lot of their time.
We are so happy that we were able to adopt Sadi in March 2006, after fostering her through her heart worm treatment. She gives her sweet sloppy kisses to everyone and has even stopped her sister from getting into the trash when we forget to put it up. She generously shares her "sneaky" treats with her sister when she counter surfs, because poor Moli is too short to reach the counter tops herself. They especially enjoyed a tray of sugar cookies made for Christmas Gifts. We cannot thank Suncoast enough for saving this live and giving us the chance to make her a part of our family.
Thanks Again!

Nelphie aka Nelly
Nelphie was rescued from a local shelter. She was going to be put to sleep because she was heartworm positive. Suncoast saved the day and rescued her. She has been treated and is now heartworm free! She is a happy healthy girl because of Suncoast Basset Rescue and the wonderful volunteers.
Nelly is very spoiled and loved. She has a fan club wherever she goes. She has a kiss or two for everyone she meets including toll collectors and Arby's drive-thru staff. She cracks us up with her toys and awesome wrestling moves. She has the good life with 2 grandmas that spoil her, car rides, long walks and home cooked meals.
Thank you so much for Nelly. She is a wonderful addition to our family.

Abbey
We adopted our Abbey in July of 2005 after she was briefly fostered in Jacksonville. Abbey has been a great addition to our family and our children have never been so happy. My youngest is especially attached to Abbey. She can be found hugging and petting Abbey each morning as soon as she wakes up. Abbey wants to be a lap dog so bad but she has put on a few pounds since we brought her home and we can hardly hold her very long. She is such a sweet girl and has fit in well with the extended family as well. She goes with us on trips to Ma and Pa's house and is great in the car. Abbey loves to throw her toy bone around and chase it. She is a good watchdog and takes good care of us by alerting us when someone comes home or knocks on the door.
